University Senate Proposed: November 17, 2005
Adopted:
Resolution to Authorize the MS Program in Information and
Archive Management in the School of Continuing Education
WHEREAS the Education Committee of the
University Senate has favorably reviewed the proposal from the School of
Continuing Education to offer a Master of Science degree in Information and
Archive Management; and
WHEREAS the School of Continuing
Education has identified a hitherto unmet need for an MS degree in managing and
archiving information that would qualify students for positions in government,
business, and not-for-profit sectors; and
WHEREAS the proposed degree program
does not duplicate the existing degree programs offered by the several school
of the University; and
WHEREAS the Committee is satisfied that
the proposal has been approved by the Executive Committee of the School of
Continuing Education;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the school of
Continuing Education be authorized to offer the Master of Science Program in
Information and Archive Management; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University Senate approve this proposal and forward it to the Trustees for action with the proviso that the committee will review the program in five years.
