RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED PHYSICS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED PHYSICS AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS
WHEREAS, the Applied Mathematics Division of the Applied Physics Department has increased in relative importance within the Department in recent years, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Mathematics has favorably reviewed this proposal from the Department of Applied Physics to add "Applied Mathematics" to the name of the Department, and
WHEREAS, the Committee is satisfied that the proposal has been approved by the faculty of the Applied Physics Department, the Committee on Instruction of the Fu School, and the Provost,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the University Senate approve the decision of the Department of Applied Physics to change its name to the Department of Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be forwarded to the Trustees for appropriate action.
