RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH
A DUAL MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS FROM SIPA AND
MASTER OF PUBLIC POLICY FROM THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
OF SINGAPORE’S LEE KUAN YEW SCHOOL OF PUBLIC POLICY

 

WHEREAS,               the Education Committee has favorably reviewed a proposal from the School of International and Public Affairs to establish a dual degree program leading to a Master of International Affairs from SIPA and Master of Public Policy from the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, and

WHEREAS,               this program will build on the successful model of SIPA’s existing dual degrees with the London School of Economics, Sciences Po in Paris and an M.P.A. dual degree with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, and

WHEREAS,               students will pursue a first-year common core curriculum at one institution and will take a second year gaining specialized skills at the host school, drawing on a different faculty, academic tradition, political context and cultural environment, and

WHEREAS,               the proposed degree program has been approved and endorsed by the Provost of the University and the Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the University Senate establish a new degree program leading to a Master of International Affairs from SIPA and Master of Public Policy from the National University of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, with the proviso that the Education Committee will review the program in five years, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED       that this resolution be forwarded to the Trustees for appropriate action.
