University Senate Proposed: January
26, 2006
Adopted:
RESOLUTION
TO REDUCE THE FREQUENCY OF SENATE REAPPORTIONMENT FOR TENURED FACULTY AND
STUDENT SEATS
WHEREAS reapportionment of Senate seats mandated under University Statutes Sections 21a and 21b aims to reflect changes in the relative size of the Faculties and Schools; and
WHEREAS these changes vary minimally over short intervals and have minimal impact on the size of a delegation of Senators from any Faculty or School; and
WHEREAS efficiency of Senate operations is improved by reapportioning Senate seats every five years rather than every two years;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that reapportionment be carried out every five years and that the University's Board of Trustees be respectfully requested to amend the University Statutes to carry out the intent of this resolution.
