RESOLUTION TO ADD ONE SENATE SEAT
FOR A STUDENT REPRESENTING TEACHERS COLLEGE
WHEREAS the By-laws, Statues, and Rules of the Columbia University Senate now consider the Teachers College student representatives, without voting privileges, and
WHEREAS other constituencies in affiliated institutions, including faculty from Teachers College, Union Theological Seminary, and Barnard College, as well as students from Barnard College, receive full voting privileges as Columbia University senators, and
WHEREAS Columbia University confers all degrees and diplomas for Teachers College, and
WHEREAS the students of Teachers College contribute to the vitality and breadth of the greater Columbia community and are committed to strengthening relationships across the university;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the University Senate amend its By-laws, Statutes, and Rules to provide for one senator to be elected from and by the students of Teachers College;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Senate propose to the Trustees of the University appropriate amendments to the University Statutes to carry out the purposes of the prior resolutions.
