University Senate Proposed: March 7, 2003

Adopted:

RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE ONLINE LEARNING COMMITTEE

WHEREAS in the spring of 2001, the University Senate instituted the ad hoc Online Learning and Digital Media Initiatives Committee with a two-year sunset provision, and

WHEREAS the Online Learning and Digital Media Initiatives Committee is currently undertaking a comprehensive survey on the use of new media in teaching and learning at Columbia University jointly with the university libraries, Academic Computing and Information Services (ACIS) and the Center for New Media Teaching and Learning (CNMTL), and

WHEREAS the survey will most likely not be completed before the end of the 2003 academic year, and

WHEREAS the work of the Committee continues to be useful in shaping university policies and procedures for online learning and digital initiatives;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate extend the mandate of the Online Learning and Digital Media Initiatives Committee for one additional year, until June 2004.
