JOINT MEETING OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY,
EDUCATION AND LIBRARIES COMMITTEES
February 17, 2012, 11 a.m.
523 Butler Library
1. Remarks by Sen. Letty Moss-Salentijn, co-chair of the Education Committee
2. The School of Continuing Education’s M.S. in Information and Knowledge Strategy (IKnS), established in 2005, has developed a “low-residency” model incorporating guidelines on distance learning that the Education Committee presented to the Senate in 2006. Kristine Billmyer, Dean, School of Continuing Education, and Marni Baker Stein, Senior Associate Dean for Curriculum and Instruction at SCE, will talk about the capabilities of the Pearson e-College platform, as well as the educational and technical support required to prepare the faculty to deliver their courses online.
Please join in the discussion about this model of on-line education and its possible application in other online programs that are now being considered at Columbia.
